India’s Road To Final
India have had an unbeaten run to the final of the ICC Champions Trophy this year. In their first match, India had no trouble putting away a spirited Bangladesh team after having them on the mat at 35 for 5 in the first 10 overs.
India then beat Pakistan, led by an unbeaten century from Virat Kohli. India showed their class in these conditions with the ball and then in a tricky chase. In the final match of the group stage, India beat New Zealand after posting just 249 on the board.
In the crucial semi-final, India restricted Australia to 264 on a pitch that was quite slow as the match progressed. The chase was then led again by Virat Kohli, whose 84 set the tone for the middle order to finish off the game.
New Zealand’s Road To Final
In a crucial opening contest, New Zealand beat Pakistan in their home conditions, relying on the guile of their spinners in the second innings. New Zealand then qualified for the semis by beating Bangladesh in a comfortable chase.
Despite losing to India in the final group stage match, New Zealand were not fussed as they put away South Africa in the semi-final after posting more than 360, led by hundreds from Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson.
Key Players For The Final
Mitchell Santner has led the New Zealand team in masterful fashion. It was his 3-wicket haul that put the halt on South Africa’s charge in the semi-final. He will continue to be a key cog in the final on a pitch that could prove to be two-paced again.
Virat Kohli has been in exceptional chasing form this tournament. He has managed 217 runs in this competition already, and will be a heavy hitter for India if they are to chase again.
How To Watch
If you are in India, you can catch the action on both television and on your smartphone. On television, the match is being broadcasted on the Star Network. On a digital platform, you can live stream the match on Jio Hotstar. The match starts at 2.30 PM IST.Latest News
