Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants Tips - Home conditions perfect for revenge

There’s very little to separate these sides, and the winner here could get into the top three. Chennai will hope they can take advantage of the home conditions and get back to winning ways. I am backing CSK to win here.

This will be the fourth match between these two sides. Of the previous three, two were won by Lucknow, one by Chennai, and the other was abandoned.

When the sides met in Lucknow last Friday, the Super Giants won by eight wickets. Ravindra Jadeja’s fifty (57* off 40) helped the Chennai side to 176 for 6, but that proved inadequate. KL Rahul (82 off 53) anchored the chase admirably, with Lucknow winning with an over to spare.

Chennai are hovering around the top four spots, with eight points from seven matches. They played three matches at this venue and won each time.

In their last match against Lucknow, Chennai didn’t have the best batting conditions, but their bowling and fielding left a lot to be desired. The match was lost by the bat, as Chennai were at least 20 runs short.

Shivam Dube (245) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (241) are leading the batting charts for Chennai with two 50+ scores each. Mustafizur Rahman (11) is leading the bowling charts.

Mitch Santner may fancy a game in favorable conditions, but otherwise, the Chennai side looks settled.

Lucknow Super Giants Form

Lucknow also has eight points from seven matches and is only marginally below Chennai on the net run rate. They have lost two of their last three matches away from home and will be keen to improve that record.

Their chances depend on captain KL Rahul’s form (286 runs) with the bat. Nicholas Pooran (SR 164) has been finding the big hits with ease. Bowling has been below par, with none taking more wickets than the eight picked up by Yash Thakur.

Mayank Yadav’s fitness will be monitored, while local spinner Manimaran Siddharth could get into the side to make the best of local conditions.
