Being a new franchise that started only last year, there was just a single game played between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders. Last year at the DY Patil Stadium, Gujarat won by eight runs.

Hardik Pandya’s 67 off 49 balls led the Titans to 156/9 which they were able to defend as Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami and Yash Dayal all chipped in with two wickets each.

Rashid Khan is once again their enforcer in bowling with five wickets so far, the same as Mohammed Shami. Alzarri Joseph is also stepping up with four, although their fourth and fifth bowler quota remains a concern.

Kolkata Knight Riders had an up and down start to their season starting with a seven-run DLS loss to Punjab before thumping Bangalore for an 81-run win.

Their new addition Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been the leading light with the bat scoring 79 runs so far. Surprise factor Shardul Thakur scored an enterprising 68 in the previous match, lifting him to second in the batting charts.

Varun Chakaravarthy has five wickets so far with his ER of 5.34 making him a tough one to pick once again. Their pace bowlers are struggling a bit with both Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee unable to show any penetration.

Mandeep Singh aggregated just two runs this season which opens the door for N Jagadeesan. Lockie Ferguson could also be coming into the side against his former team, as he recovers from an injury.
