Bengaluru are at the bottom of the points tally, not just on points but also because of their inferior run rate. The Gujarat Titans are only slightly better on points while boasting a poorer run rate than their hosts. I am dipping into the sixes market and backing Bengaluru to win that battle.

Bengaluru and Gujarat have played in four matches so far, with two wins each for the Titans and the Royal Challengers. The teams met at the Narendra Modi Stadium last Sunday, when the Royal Challengers won by nine wickets.

The Titans batted first to score 200 for 3, with Sai Sudharsan top-scoring with 84 off 49 balls. The chase was anchored by Virat Kohli (70), but the thunder was stolen by Will Jacks (100), who scored a scintillating century off 41 balls to win the game in 16 overs.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at the bottom of the points tally with six points from ten matches. They have won their last two games in a row.

That included a nine-wicket win over the Titans in their last match, when the sides met in Ahmedabad. It was a comprehensive win, led by the aggressive batting of Jacks, who scored his maiden IPL century.

Virat Kohli (500) is the leading run scorer for the Bengaluru side, with five scores of 50 and above in ten matches. Bowling is a big headache, as the best bowler is Yash Dayal (eight wickets).

Gujarat Titans Form

The Gujarat Titans are third from bottom with only eight points from ten matches. They have lost their last two matches, including the reverse fixture against Bengaluru.

Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan scored enterprising fifties, but the total of 200 didn’t prove enough for the Titans. None of their bowlers looked set to take wickets, as they continued to leak runs.

Sudharsan (418) continues to lead the batting charts for the Titans, with captain Shubman Gill (320) right behind him. Bowling hasn’t been Gujarat’s forte this season, with Mohit Sharma (ten wickets) leading the wickets tally, but the team has also conceded at nearly 11 runs per over.

The Titans will look to change their bowling attack as Mohit Sharma and Sandeep Warrier come under scrutiny. Kartik Tyagi, Umesh Yadav, and Darshan Nalkande are waiting in the wings.
