There’s no doubting the fact that Australia have had an edge over the West Indies in the white-leg of the tour. After clean sweeping the ODIs, they could do so in the T20Is too, but the Windies are likely to boss the sixes count again. I am putting my money on Windies hitting more 6s.
- Australia have conceded the most 6s of the match in 5 of their last 7 matches (T20Is)
- Australia have conceded the most 6s of the match in 6 of their last 8 home matches (T20Is)
- West Indies have struck the most 6s of the match in 9 of their last 11 matches (T20Is)
- West Indies have lost 6 of their last 7 matches in Australia against the hosts (T20Is)
Head to Head
The teams have met in 21 T20Is so far with Australia winning 11 and the Windies winning ten. The record is more skewed in the recent past with the Aussies winning six and losing just one of the last seven H2Hs.
In this series, Australia won the first match in Hobart by 11 runs before winning the series with a 34-run win in the second match in Adelaide.
Australia Form
It was the hard-hitting batsmen that won the series for Australia, posting totals of 241 and 213. Glenn Maxwell’s hundred made the difference in the second match while David Warner has been the star in the first.
Bowlers have been impressive too, with Marcus Stoinis taking five in the series while Adam Zampa has taken four. With the series in the bag, they are likely to rest a few regulars.
Jake Fraser-McGurk has been added to the squad along with Wes Agar, while Xavier Bartlett had already been added as Australia plan ahead to their tour of New Zealand.
Australia Team News
Josh Hazlewood has flown back home which could open the door for Sean Abbott. Wes Agar could also be tested in place of Jason Behrendorff while Glenn Maxwell could rest and Aaron Hardie be played in lieu. Fraser-McGurk could debut if they plan to rest Warner.
West Indies Form
West Indies showed the depth and variety of their hitting but have struggled to win, losing both games in high-scoring chases. Captain Rovman Powell has enough reasons to be disappointed with all departments of his squad.
The batters haven’t been consistent with only two fifties scored in the series. As for the bowlers, all but Alzarri Joseph have conceded in excess of ten runs per over in the series.
With nothing to lose and everything to gain, the visitors could look to end their series on a high and surprise the hosts.
West Indies Team News
West Indies played the same team in the first two matches. Kyle Mayers and Gudakesh Motie could fancy a game as they look to sign off their tour with a win.
