The England team that faced Sri Lanka recently are in self isolation so they will have a number of debutants. Our best bet is for the experienced Pakistan side to win.

England’s entire first choice team from the last series will miss the 1st ODI.
England’s Dawid Malan scored 76 runs in his last limited overs (T20) match.

Head to Head

England have won four of their last five ODI matches against Pakistan. The last one however ended in favour of Pakistan by 14 runs in June 2019.

England Form

England will be pleased with their recent ODI form after sweeping Sri Lanka aside recently. The three-match series ended 2-0 in England’s favour after the final match was rained out.

After completely dominating the first two ODIs, England looked set for a 3-0 whitewash in Bristol. The hosts bowled first for the third successive match and dismissed Sri Lanka for 166 runs.

Tom Curran was superb with the ball taking 4-35 in 10 overs. Unfortunately no further play was possible as rain began to fall and never eased off.

England Team News

Ben Stokes in back in the ODI squad after injury and will captain the side. There is a total of nine uncapped players in the squad after the entire first-choice team had to self-isolate just a couple of days ago.

Dawid Malan also returns to the squad. He pulled out of the Sri Lanka series for personal reasons.

Pakistan Form

Pakistan will be full of confidence heading into this series. They have a very strong ODI squad and won their last series 2-1 in South Africa.

With two matches played in the series it was level at 1-1 so the 3rd ODI turned into the series decider. Pakistan batted first scoring 320 runs in their 50 overs at Centurion

Fakhar Zaman scored 101 runs while the superb Babar Azam hit 94 off just 82 balls. That proved enough as South Africa could only reach 292, losing by 28 runs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi took 3-58 and Mohammad Nawaz 3-24.

Pakistan have arrived in England at full strength. They have had their training time limited due to rain in the country but all reports suggest there is a clean bill of health.
