Nepal don’t threaten India on paper, but the Men in Blue are theoretically in danger of getting eliminated. The washout against Pakistan was a reminder of how much they need to improve, especially at the top of the batting order. That could spur them into action as they target a big win in this match. There’s no value in backing India on the win. Instead, we are looking at the other markets. I am backing India to see at least one batter score a century.

India started their Asia Cup 2023 campaign with a stuttering batting display against Pakistan on Saturday at this same venue. They collapsed to 66 for 4 before eventually posting 266.

Fifties by Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) gave them a respectable total but it was never a challenging one. Rain robbed Rohit Sharma’s men any chance of testing their bowlers.

With their tournament progress on the line, India could be itching to get out and use this match to get into form ahead of big games.

Nepal Form

Nepal started their maiden Asia Cup tournament with a tough outing against Pakistan, falling to a 238-run loss in Multan. It was a lesson for the minnows, one where they failed to showcase their skills.

The match was more or less lost in the first innings itself, as they conceded 342 for 6, including two individual hundreds. The batters then struggled to stand against the fiery Pakistani attack.

The highest individual score posted was a meagre 28 while only three batters went into triple-digit figures. With nothing to lose and their progress in the Asia Cup on the line, the least Nepal could do is to fight a strong battle.

I am putting my money on that and backing an Indian batter to score a 100.
