India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup Super Fours

Both teams are on two points after wins in their respective first matches. A win here would all-but seal their passage to the final. It is difficult to say how the Indian players will cope up with the humidity for a third day in a row, while Sri Lanka have had a longer rest. I am still putting my money on India, this time in the opening partnership segment.
- India have posted the highest opening partnership in their last 5 completed matches (ODIs)
- Sri Lanka have conceded the highest opening partnership in 5 of their last 8 home matches (ODIs)
- Sri Lanka have conceded the highest opening partnership of the match in their last 3 matches against India (ODIs)
- Virat Kohli has 4 hundreds in his last 7 matches against Sri Lanka (ODIs)
- Kuldeep Yadav has taken at least 2 wickets in 5 of his 8 bowling innings against Sri Lanka (ODIs)
Head to Head
India played Sri Lanka in 165 ODIs winning 96 and losing 57. Of the remaining, 11 ended without any result while one was tied.
The last time these sides played was in a three-match series in India in January this year. India won that series 3-0.
India Form
India qualified for the Super Fours as second from Group A with three points, from a win and a no-result. In the Super Fours, they defeated Pakistan by 228 runs in a match that started on Sunday and ended on Monday.
It is the top three that are doing the job for India with Rohit Sharma (141), Shubman Gill (135) and Virat Kohli (126) scoring the bulk of the runs. The openers have scored two fifties each and have been impressive with their starts.
The wily wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is fresh from a five-wicket haul while the Indians will look at the utility of Shardul Thakur in the side.
India Team News
India rested Shreyas Iyer for the Pakistan match due to back spasms. If he comes back in, Ishan Kishan could be the one to be replaced.
Sri Lanka Form
Sri Lanka topped Group A with two wins out of two against Bangladesh and Afghanistan. They then started the Super Fours with a 21-run win over Bangladesh.
The Islanders have won 13 ODIs in a row and are on a roll. Although they haven’t enjoyed playing India in the past, they have ten wins in 19 matches against India in the Asia Cup ODIs.
Extending that record will need them to depend again on the batting of Sadeera Samarawickrama (150) who has been a revelation this tournament. Bowling could be about Matheesha Pathirana (eight wickets) who’s proving immensely valuable.
Sri Lanka Team News
Sri Lanka have no injury concerns and could field the same side again.

Verdict
I am keeping my options open in the win market as India have dominated Sri Lanka regularly, but Asia Cups have seen the Lankans give a tough fight. It is the opening partnership market that appears interesting to me and I am putting my money on India scoring the most runs in that segment.
