Somerset vs Lancashire Tips & Preview - Lancashire to reach Vitality Blast semi-final

Somerset have won their only previous match against Lancashire in T20 cricket. That fixture took place in 2005 and ended in a seven wicket triumph for Somerset.

Somerset had a fine season as they finished second in the South group, one point off table topping Kent. They won four of their final five round robin matches.

Before the season broke for The Hundred at the conclusion of the round robin stage, Somerset beat Gloucester by 23 runs in Taunton. Tom Lammonby played a quite astonishing knock for Somerset, smashing 90 off 36 balls to steer his side to 183 runs.

While Gloucester made a good run at the total it was Craig Overton’s 2-18 in four overs that pegged them back. The victory secured second place for Somerset.

Somerset have lost star bowler Craig Overton. He is with the Test side playing India.

Overseas star Devon Conway is also unavailable but Tom Banton will provide a boost to the batting lineup.

Lancashire finished the round robin stage in third place in North group, just a point off second place. They won four of their final four matches to secure qualification. 

Their last match of the round robin stage saw them beat Yorkshire by four wickets in Manchester. In a low scoring match, Lancashire fielded first. Luke Wood produced an exceptional spell, taking 4-20 in four overs to restrict Yorkshire to 128 runs.

Lancashire were hardly comfortable in the chase but they managed to get to the total with one over to spare. Luke Wells top scored with 30 runs.

Lancashire are without Finn Allen who has left the country but the in-form Liam Livingstone should return to the side.
