- Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh Asia Cup Super Four FAQs
Bangladesh were thrashed by Pakistan in the first of the matches in this stage putting pressure on them to bounce back. With injuries sweeping the camp, they looked listless so far and need a massive turnaround. Sri Lanka survived their group phase by the skin of their teeth but one of their wins came against Bangladesh. The hosts retain an edge, although weather could prove to be a dampener. I am backing Sri Lanka to win this match.

Head to Head
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have played out 52 ODIs so far with Sri Lanka winning 41 and Bangladesh winning nine. Two ended without any result.
The last time these sides played was in the second match of this tournament. Bangladesh were skittled out for 164 while Sri Lanka chased it down in 39 overs. Matheesha Pathirana (4 for 32) and Charith Asalanka (62*) were the stars of the show for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka Form
Sri Lanka continued their recent form with two wins in this competition so far. They defeated Bangladesh by five wickets before narrowly escaping by two runs against Afghanistan.
The hosts will be concerned about their batting although Charith Asalanka and Kusal Mendis seem to have picked up some sort of form.
Bowlers have helped the Lankans sail through, with Matheesha Pathirana (five) and Kasun Rajitha (four) leading the way. There are three other bowlers with three wickets each this tournament.
Sri Lanka Team News
Sri Lanka played the same team in both their matches. Barring any last minute pull-outs, they should be able to repeat the dose.
Bangladesh Form
Bangladesh are stuttering along with two defeats and one win in the tournament. A loss would knock out them out although a win wouldn’t guarantee they remain in contention for the final.
They lost by five wickets to Sri Lanka before an 89-run win over Afghanistan to stay alive in the competition. They were then brought back to earth by Pakistan, who defeated them by seven wickets.
Top-scorer Najmul Hossain Shanto (193) is already ruled out of the series, leaving Mehidy Hasan (117) as their best batter. Pacers have led their bowling charge with Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam sharing 13 wickets between them.
Bangladesh Team News
Thankfully for Bangladesh, there aren’t any more injury concerns and they could repeat the side that lost to Pakistan.

Verdict
Bangladesh are usually a better side than this, but injuries have ravaged their confidence. I am not able to find a way for them to step up and put pressure on Sri Lanka. The hosts get my nod on the win scales. Back Sri Lanka to win.
