UAE vs West Indies ODI III
West Indies wasted little time in closing out the series as a win in the second match gave them an unassailable 2-0 lead. The third match in Sharjah on Friday will still be a matter of pride for both teams – Windies looking to avoid losing to an Associate Nation while UAE would look to upset an established nation.

There’s still a lot of catch up for the hosts, who have only shown glimpses of their talent in spurts. It is still the opening partnership market that looks lucrative, as West Indies are heavy favourites. I am backing the Windies openers to score at least 33 runs, which looks a value bet.
- UAE have lost their 17 matches to the current top-10 teams (ODIs)
- West Indies have won 23 of their 24 matches against Associate Nations (ODIs)
- Shai Hope has scored 7 of his 14 centuries in Asia (ODIs)
- UAE have conceded at least 33 runs as the opening partnership in 4 of their last 5 matches (ODIs)
- West Indies openers have scored at least 33 in their last 5 matches (ODIs)
Head to Head
This series is the first between UAE and the West Indies since the last of their two ODIs played in 2018.
It is the Windies who have won all the five matches that were played between these sides thus far.
UAE Form
The hosts were no match to the established visitors, as was evident in the two matches. They lost by seven wickets in the first and by 78 runs in the second.
UAE can only take comfort from the fact that they scored 200+ in both the matches. Zahoor Khan’s four wickets in the series is a positive, considering his low ER of 4.80.
Teenager Ali Naseer’s debut series has seen him manage 115 runs while Vrithya Aravind’s 129 runs in the series have been the lone bright spots.
UAE Team News
With an eye on the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe, UAE could look to find the right team composition.
West Indies Form
West Indies completed the series win pretty easily, managing back-to-back wins. There will be concerns for the visitors though, who couldn’t pick up all ten wickets in the second ODI.
Brandon King has been the biggest contributor for the Windies with 176 runs in the series, scoring fifties in both the matches. Even Johnson Charles found some form with a fifty and should relish another chance to pick up runs.
Bowling duties have been largely shared with four bowlers taking three wickets each. Almost every bowler has managed to keep their economy rates below five runs per over, which is on expected lines.
West Indies Team News
With the series already clinched, West Indies could look to make changes to their playing XI ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.

There’s little or no value on backing West Indies to win this match as they remain overwhelming favourites. The value market is the opening partnership with West Indies expected to score at least 33 runs. With the form he’s in, Brandon King looks set to score at least a fifty.
