Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh Preview

Shakib Al Hasan put in a superb all round display in the last match, scoring 96 runs and taking two wickets. He took five wickets in the 1st ODI. My best bet is for Al Hasan to score over 25.5 runs.

  • Zimbabwe’s Brendan Taylor scored 46 runs in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh.
  • Zimbabwe have lost 12 of their last 13 ODI matches.
  • Bangladesh have won their last 6 ODI matches against Zimbabwe.
  • Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan scored 96 runs in the 2nd ODI.
  • Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan has taken 7 wickets in his last 2 ODI matches.
  • Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan won the man of the match award in the last ODI.

Head to Head

Bangladesh have won their last seven ODI matches against Zimbabwe. They lead the current series 2-0 with the last match ending in a narrow three-wicket win in Harare.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe have lost 12 of their last 13 ODI matches. They will however be a bit more pleased with their performance in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh.

Batting first in Harare, Zimbabwe posted a competitive 240 runs in their 50 overs. Brendan Taylor scored 46 runs while Wessley Madhevere top scored with 56 runs. There were a few other scores of 30+ to push the total along.

Zimbabwe went about defending the total well and looked on course for victory at one point. Luke Jongwe was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2-46 while Blessing Muzarabani took one wicket but only went for 31 runs.

Bangladesh scored the winning runs in the final over of the match to win by three wickets.

Zimbabwe Team News

It looks like Zimbabwe will go into the match with the same lineup. Sean Williams and Craig Ervine are still self-isolating which makes their participation unlikely.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh hold an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. They won the 2nd ODI by three wickets in Harare.

Bowling first, Shoriful Islam took 4-46 as the hosts were restricted to 240 runs in their 50 overs. It wasn’t the easiest pitch to bat on but Shakib Al Hasan held the Bangladesh innings together.

Al Hasan scored 96 runs but there was little help from the rest. That was until Mohammad Saifuddin added 28 at the bottom of the order to help Bangadesh over the line with five balls to spare.

Bangladesh Team News

With the series in the bag Bangladesh may look to make a few changes. Players such as Nurul Hasan, Mutafizur Rahman and Mohammad Naim could get the chance in the 3rd ODI.

Verdict

Shakib Al Hasan offers plenty with bat and ball. He is backed to score over 25.5 runs and be Bangladesh's top scorer. He is also a great option in the man of the match market.

Brendan Taylor is tipped to top score for Zimbabwe after a good 46 runs in the 2nd ODI.
