Just a single point separates Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat although both remain in the bottom-half of the Big Bash League 2020-21 (BBL10) points table. However, with only four points separating teams from second to seventh, it will be an all-out tussle for four points when the teams meet in Adelaide for match #46.

The Strikers have 20 points from 11 matches (W5, L6) including five ‘Bash Boost’ points. The Heat, meanwhile, have 21 of their 11 matches (W5, L6) with six ‘Bash Boost’ points.

Adelaide Strikers Form

Adelaide Strikers need to pick up some form after winning just two of their last six matches. Even at this venue, the Strikers have won three out of five, although two of those wins have come in their last three matches.

Four batsmen have aggregated 200+ runs in the season, while Alex Carey (280) and Jake Weatherald (254) remain crucial. Wes Agar (17 wickets) and Peter Siddle (13) remain their best bets even as they search for an apt replacement for the departed fan favourite Rashid Khan.

Adelaide Strikers News

The Strikers are boosted by the addition of Travis Head and Michael Nasser, who join the team for this must-win clash.

Brisbane Heat Form

Brisbane Heat lost by 59 runs to Perth Scorchers, but have won four of their last six matches. With a crowded mid-table space, the Heat would be gunning to get back to winning ways.

Captain Chris Lynn (300 runs, SR 147.78) has once again excelled with the bat for the Heat and is their best scorer. Mark Steketee (18 wickets) has been brilliant with the ball, while Jack Wildermuth (12 wickets) has surprised a few.

Brisbane Heat News

The Heat welcome the Australian Test squad duo of Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Swepson, which should be a big boost to their chances.

Adelaide Strikers vs Brisbane Heat Head-to-Head

Adelaide Strikers have a 7-5 win-loss record against the Brisbane Heat in the 12 BBL matches played so far. That included an exciting two-run win in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Contributions from Matt Renshaw and Jono Wells helped the Strikers post 150/6. Their bowlers led by Danny Briggs (3/20) then withstood a late Jimmy Peirson onslaught (69*) to eke out a narrow win.

Adelaide Strikers vs Brisbane Heat Match Up

Both teams will be boosted with the returning Test stars. With the table tightly packed, this is a must-win clash for both sides and will test the top-orders of both teams. The Strikers have a slightly better balanced bowling outfit and that could play to their advantage.

Adelaide Strikers vs Brisbane Heat Stats

  • Adelaide Strikers have won six of the last nine matches against Brisbane Heat.
  • The chasing team has won four of the last five matches between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat.
  • Four of the last six matches between the Strikers and the Heat have seen an equal number of sixes by the two teams.
  • Wes Agar has taken at least two wickets in seven of Adelaide Strikers’ 11 matches.
  • Chris Lynn has been Brisbane Heat’s best batsman in their last four matches.

Prediction

With only four points between the sides from second to seventh, this BBL season is proving to be one of the most open tournaments in the tournament history. The Heat will have a chance to go as high as second with a win, while the Strikers can tie with second by posting a win. There is nothing to separate these sides which makes the match even more exciting. Watch out for the individual performances in the betting market as Lyon and Agar could be worth a try.
