After winning the ‘away’ game against Perth Scorchers at their home Adelaide Oval, the Adelaide Strikers will clash again with the Scorchers in the last match of the calendar year 2020. This match #21 of the Big Bash League 2020-21 (BBL10) will be played at the Adelaide Oval.

The Strikers have three wins and two losses from their five matches totalling 13 points. They are currently fourth in the table and can rise as high as first with a win. The Scorchers are rooted to the bottom of the standings with no wins from four matches including one no result.

Adelaide Strikers Form

The Strikers are a traditionally top-heavy side and that continued this season with Phil Salt (118 runs, SR 137.20) and Jake Weatherald (115 runs, SR 122.34) following suit. Alex Carey will hope to add to his aggregate of 79 runs as he looks to play a captain’s role.

Bowling has been in top form for the Strikers, led by the ever-dependable Peter Siddle (ten wickets, ER 8.00). Wes Agar (nine) can’t stop taking wickets, while Rashid Khan (seven wickets, 49 runs @ SR 153.12) remains their icon.

The Strikers have retained the same squad and should be confident of fielding the same XI from their latest match.

Perth Scorchers Form

Perth Scorchers are the only side yet to win a match in the Big Bash League this season. Their losses have been comprehensive too – two seven-wicket defeats and the 71-run loss in the previous match against the Strikers.

No Scorchers’ batsman has yet scored 100 runs for the season with captain Ashton Turner (88 runs, SR 166.03) their best bat.  Bowling hasn’t been effective either with just Jhye Richardson (six) picking up more than two wickets this season.

Overseas stars Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone played their first matches of the season in the last round. The Scorchers will hope that they can pick their game up for this match.

Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers Head-to-Head

Adelaide Strikers have a slender 9-8 edge over Perth Scorchers in career Big Bash head-to-heads. However, the Strikers won the last four in a row.

The sides met at the same venue on December 28 and the Strikers won by 71 runs. Phil Salt’s quick-fire 51 off 31 balls set the Strikers’ score of 165/8. Every bowler then took two wickets each to stifle the Scorchers’ chase. Rashid Khan was the man of the match for his 29 off 13 and 2/18.

Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers Match Up

Adelaide Strikers are high on confidence at the moment with their key players firing. The Scorchers are exact opposite with their batsmen yet to fire. Even the bowling unit isn’t firing at the moment with only Jhye Richardson conceding under 7.0 runs per over.

Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers Stats

  • Adelaide Strikers have won six of their last seven New Year Eve matches, with their only loss coming last year.
  • Adelaide Strikers have won their last four matches against Perth Scorchers.
  • Adelaide Strikers have won five of the seven matches at this venue against Perth Scorchers.

Prediction

Perth Scorchers are currently in the midst of a poor sequence of results and form. Nothing is clicking at the moment and unless their foreign imports start firing, the Scorchers could be in for another hammering. On the other hand, the Strikers have been consistent with their performances and should love playing in their home stadium.
