With nothing much to separate them on the points table, Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers get set to make it a memorable Sunday in the Big Bash League 2020/21. This match # 11 will be played at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
The Sixers are third in the points tally with five points from two matches. The Strikers are just behind with four points from the same number of matches. With the second-placed Melbourne Stars at least five points ahead of them, the winner won’t be making a substantial move up.
Sydney Sixers Form
Sydney Sixers started the season with a 16-run loss to Hobart Hurricanes. However, they quickly recovered and posted a massive 145-run win over Melbourne Renegades. Thanks to the ‘Bash Boost’ point from that win, the Sixers are above the Strikers in the table.
Josh Philippe (96 runs, SR 160.00) has shown glimpses of the potential he displayed last season, while James Vince (84 runs, SR 147.36) has played two attractive knocks. Bowling has been all about Ben Dwarshuis (seven wickets, ER 7.65) while Steve O’Keefe has also been among the spoils (four wickets).
Sydney Sixers News
The Sixers are all set to welcome West Indies’ captain Jason Holder, who joins the squad in Hobart after participating in the New Zealand tour. He is in line to make his Sixers’ debut.
Adelaide Strikers Form
Adelaide Strikers also had a losing start against the Hurricanes losing by a 11-run margin. However, they got their revenge back winning the reverse fixture by five wickets.
The return of Alex Carey (55 runs, one match) has served the Strikers well, as they look for Jake Weatherald (69 runs, SR 130.18) to continue his good start. Peter Siddle (six wickets, ER 6.00) and Rashid Khan (two wickets, ER 8.12) will be vital once again for the Strikers’ bowling.
Adelaide Strikers News
Danny Briggs didn’t have a good game last time around and was subbed at the half-way point using the X-Factor rule. He could be under pressure to hold on to his starting role.
Sydney Sixers vs Adelaide Strikers Head-to-Head
Sydney Sixers have a 7-5 win-loss record against Adelaide Strikers. They have won their last four matches in a row.
In the last match between the Sixers and the Strikers played at the Adelaide Oval, the Sixers won a low-scoring encounter by two wickets. Tom Curran’s 4/22 restricted the Strikers to 135 all out while the chase was anchored by James Vince (27) and Tom Curran (21) overpowering Rashid Khan’s effort (4/22) that included a hat-trick.
Sydney Sixers vs Adelaide Strikers Match Up
The Sixers have looked in great form against the Hurricanes and their bowling looks impressive. Their batting still revolves a lot around Josh Philippe, which could prove counter-productive. The Strikers, on the other hand, look a well-rounded side with Alex Carey’s presence. This match could well be decided by how well the batsmen on either side perform.
