Adelaide Strikers will hope to get back to winning ways when they face Melbourne Renegades in the first of the back-to-back matches at the Adelaide Oval. This match #29 of the Big Bash League 2020-21 will be played on Tuesday.

The Renegades are bottom of the table picking up five points from one win and six losses. The Strikers are 5th in the standings with 13 points as they have three wins and four losses.

Melbourne Renegades Form

The Renegades season is showing no signs of respite as they fell to a 96-run loss to Perth Scorchers in their last match. They have now lost six matches in a row. Shaun Marsh has been waging the lone battle scoring consistent runs (247, Avg. 35.28) while the others have faltered.

Kane Richardson remains their best bowler with nine wickets, but the Renegades have struggled here also. Most of the regular bowlers are conceding more than 8.0 runs per over, while struggling for control in the slog overs.

Beau Webster has been in and out of the side this season, but the last season’s best batsman (for the Renegades) should slot his way back in. Jon Holland is another option and can be given a game.

Adelaide Strikers Form

Adelaide Strikers are in the top-five of the standings, but need a boost after consecutive losses to the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers. Alex Carey (192 runs) is playing a lone hand, while Phil Salt (123 runs, SR 135.16) hasn’t yet shown his true worth.

However, the biggest positive for the Strikers is their bowling. Wes Agar (11 wickets) has been a revelation, while Rashid Khan (11 wickets, ER 7.18) continues to bamboozle the opponents. And then there is the wily old horse Peter Siddle (ten wickets, ER 8.04).

Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers Head-to-Head

Adelaide Strikers have won eight of the 12 matches against Melbourne Renegades including the last three in a row. In fact, the Strikers have won five of the last six against the Renegades.

Last season saw the Strikers decimate the Renegades by 63 runs at the Adelaide Oval. Jono Wells led the batting charge for the Strikers with a measured 58, while Peter Siddle registered figures of 3/14.

Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers Match Up

Melbourne Renegades are sliding from one loss to another as their batting continues to flounder. Except for Shaun Marsh none of the players are living up to expectations. The heavy losses aren’t helping them one bit because the morale of the side is completely down.

Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers Stats

  • Melbourne Renegades have won all 3 matches they batted first against Adelaide Strikers.
  • Melbourne Renegades have lost their last 6 matches.
  • Adelaide Strikers have won 8 of 9 matches against Melbourne Renegades where they batted first.

Prediction

Adelaide Strikers will be eyeing a win to get back to winning ways. The Strikers have won the Bash Boost point in four of their seven matches, while the Renegades have done so in two of their seven. The Strikers can move up a spot with a win. Rashid Khan’s bowling exploits mean backing up for a top haul makes sense.
